WASHINGTON, DC: VIPKID and the US-China Strong Foundation announced today that the global education technology company will make a six-figure unrestricted grant over three years to support the Foundation’s work. In turn, VIPKID’s Mandarin education platform, Lingo Bus, will be the exclusive K-12 online language tutoring partner of the US-China Strong Foundation.
Since the establishment of its “1 Million Strong” campaign in 2015, the US-China Strong Foundation has sought partners in the technology space to help American K-12 students succeed in learning Mandarin. “VIPKID and Lingo Bus have earned outstanding reputations for the innovation and quality of their online language tutoring, and we are delighted to partner with them,” said US-China Strong CEO John L. Holden. He added, “VIPKID’s financial support will help advance our goal of strengthening the capacity of young Americans to understand China.”

The announcement follows a panel discussion held today on cross border education technology solutions. The event, hosted by the US-China Strong Foundation in coordination with the US House of Representatives US-China Working Group, featured Congressman Rick Larsen (D-WA), VIPKID CEO Cindy Mi, David Plack, Senior Policy Advisor, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, and Marty Abbott, Executive Director of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
