Dear Friends,

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with The Roche Family Foundation to increase access for American students of all backgrounds to study abroad in China – building on the success of our initial goal, 100,000 Strong, which we achieved in 2014.

The Roche Family Foundation has made a generous donation to US-China Strong of $35,000 per year over the next five years to support Americans Promoting Study Abroad (APSA). APSA is a non-profit that connects global-minded American youth of all backgrounds to innovative educational experiences abroad. APSA’s scholarships and immersive international programs create a global generation of youth equipped with foreign language fluency, cross-cultural awareness and 21st century professional skills.

The Roche Family Foundation donation will go directly to supporting APSA’s Founder Initiative that was established by its Board of Directors to sustain the future operational strategic growth of the organization. Since 2008 APSA has provided 400 high school students with scholarships and global education experiences abroad and aims to reach 1000 youth by 2020.

The Roche Family Foundation was founded by Robert Roche, president and founder of Roche Enterprises, LLC. Roche is co-founder and board member of Acorn International, a Shanghai-based media and branding sales company, and Oak Lawn Marketing, LLC, the largest infomercial company in Japan. Active in philanthropy, Roche supports several nonprofit organizations dedicated to strengthening US-Asia relations, including the Business Forward Foundation and the Center for New American Security. He was previously Chairman and Vice Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, and a former member of President Obama’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Roche Family Foundation for helping students across the country achieve their China study abroad dreams – and to strengthening the bilateral relationship, one student at a time.

Thanks, as always, for your support.
