Dear Friends,

Our new 1 Million Strong campaign is off to a great start – we’re making progress each day toward our goal of seeing one million American K-12 students studying Mandarin by 2020, a five-fold increase from current numbers. And we’re even more excited to unveil our new logo for 1 Million Strong:

This logo – and the campaign itself – will complement and advance our work toward enhancing US-China relations, and will create a strong, distinct brand for 1 Million Strong.

We’re also pleased to announce the launch of our task force that will guide our request for proposals (RFP) process for 1 Million Strong’s three pillars: curriculum development, teacher training and technology. Comprised of more than 20 influential leaders in the academic and foreign language space – representing organizations such as the Asia Society, the College Board, American Council on the Teacher of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Institute of International Education (IIE) and others – the task force will assist the Foundation in selecting the best proposals to develop a national Mandarin language curriculum, improve Mandarin teacher training and certification and implement technology platforms to make language learning accessible to wider audiences.

Keep your eye out for the new 1 Million Strong logo as we incorporate it into our future communications and website.
Thanks, as always, for your support.
