I am writing you today to ask for your support for the 100,000 Strong mission. We have gone from 0 to 100 mph in less than two years, and we are proud of our many accomplishments. We are poised to take our work to the next level, but we need your help.
I am writing you today to ask you to make a financial contribution to 100K Strong; whether $50 or $50,000, every dollar counts.
The Foundation is at a critical juncture. We have the highest level of bipartisan political support in Washington, as well as the endorsement of the top leaders in Beijing. We convene top policy makers and opinion leaders from both countries, while simultaneously implementing a far-reaching grassroots campaign to engage American students from diverse backgrounds in the 100K Strong movement.
Today, we seek to put real funding behind our efforts to expand and diversity US study abroad to China. Here are some of the ways that you can help:
• Environmental Action Fund: We recently launched the 100K Strong Environmental Action Fund at the Bo’ao Conference in Seattle. The Action Fund will help stand up and grow project-based learning on issues related to environmental sustainability. Specifically, the Foundation will support programs that bring American and Chinese students together to develop collaborative solutions to key environmental challenges faced by both countries.
• Signature Partners: Selected through a competitive RFP process, these organizations represent the Foundation’s strong commitment to reach a diverse cross-section of young Americans, particularly those from underserved or underrepresented communities, to study Mandarin and study abroad in China.
• 100K Strong Fellows Program: You can directly sponsor individual students or groups of students. Whether a travel stipend or a full scholarship, your dollars will have transformative impact on a someone’s future. Fellowships can be named and will be based on financial need.
• Institutional Support: Our accomplishments are big, but we are still a small non-profit and every dollar counts!
Please visit the Support page on our website to contribute to any of these efforts.
You already know that the US-China relationship is the most consequential bilateral relationship in the world today. How this relationship unfolds — and what impact it will have on global security — depends on how well we train our next generation. Will they have the skills to work with China to come up with new approaches to climate change? Will they be able to compete and collaborate on the biggest technological advances in the coming decades? Will they have the understanding to sit across the negotiating table and make deals — whether on trade and investment or on how to stem the spread of nuclear weapons?
That depends on us.
We look forward to working with you this coming year to take 100K Strong to the next level. Please consider making a donation today.
Thank you for your support,
President & CEO
