We were honored to pay tribute to Ambassador Gary Locke and his wife Mona Lee Locke at the 100,000 Strong Foundation’s Winter Dinner here in Washington on March 5. Ambassador and Mrs. Locke have had impressive careers in public service, most recently in China, and we have been deeply grateful for their tireless support and advocacy for the 100K Strong mission: to strengthen US-China relations through study abroad.

“More young Americans are studying Mandarin and studying in China every year,” said Ambassador Locke. “These experiences are truly transformative and essential for ensuring a strong, mutually beneficial relationship between the US and China going forward. Mona and I couldn’t be more proud to work with the 100K Strong Foundation.”

We were also joined by 100K Strong champions including PRC Charges d’Affaires Lu Kang; former Assistant Secretary of State Kurt Campbell; State Department Chief of Protocol Peter Selfridge; Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA); 100K Strong Board Chairman George Lee; and other thought leaders from the US-China policy, business and academic communities.

We express our deepest thanks to our supporters who helped make this wonderful event possible: The Ford Foundation, the Florence Fang Family Foundation, Wanxiang Group, WorldStrides, Procter & Gamble, Blackstone Charitable Foundation, Avenues, Caterpillar, GreenPoint Group and Barbara Franklin Enterprises.

It was a wonderful night celebrating the spirit of 100K Strong!
